Dan Krockmalnic
Executive Vice President, New Media and General Counsel
Dan Krockmalnic is Executive Vice President for New Media & General Counsel of Boston Globe Media. He leads the Legal Department as well as the company’s work on legislative and advocacy issues affecting the news publishing business, serving on the board of the News Media Alliance, as a trustee of the American Press Institute, and as Vice President of the Massachusetts Newspaper Publishers Association. He also leads the company’s efforts to develop projects for television, film, podcasts, and other media. In 2024, Dan assumed operational oversight of the company’s printing and distribution operations.
Prior to joining the Globe, Dan worked at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, the Boston law firm of Ropes & Gray, and as a law clerk in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan.
Dan was born in Bucharest, Romania, and emigrated with his parents to the USA as an infant on a refugee visa. His family settled in Boston, where years later his first job was as a paperboy for the Globe. He first appeared in its pages as a high school Globe All-Scholastic in track and field.
Dan graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and obtained his J.D. from Columbia Law School.
